Great Delta Trail Master Plan
Delta, California
Zander Westbrook Design prepared the Great California Delta Trail Master Plan for the Delta Protection Commission. The Master Plan embraces the unique complexities and contradictions of the Delta and charts a way to knit together the seemingly contradictory or disparate goals of both protecting and providing access to the Delta’s agricultural, cultural, natural, and water resources; developing a useful planning document without prescribing any specific routes or alignments; planning for both recreation opportunities and non-motorized transportation; and providing both local and regional access.
The Delta Trail is a comprehensive network of trails that extend through the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. It connects to over 15-miles of park and open spaces, as well as five historic communities. It aims to provide a continuous regional recreational corridor, linking the San Francisco Bay Trail system to the Sacramento Counties.
