Bay Trail Design Guidelines and Toolkit 2.0

Zander Westbrook Design supported Toole Design Group in the development of the Bay Trail Design Guidelines and Toolkit 2.0. The team’s role included leading the off-street typologies with a focus on inclusive and accessible design, as well as conducting the literature review, local agency and partner interviews, and photography coordination.
Bay Trail Design Guidelines and Toolkit 2.0 support the ongoing development of the San Francisco Bay Trail, a 500-mile green transportation and recreation route for walking, biking, and rolling around the entire San Francisco Bay, while providing for the protection of Bay resources, regional livability, and local economic prosperity. The trail currently includes approximately 350 miles of both off-street and on-street segments, as well as connections to local destinations. The guidelines serve as a reference standard for both new construction and the improvement of existing segments.
