SFO Bay Trail Gap Closure Study

San Francisco International Airport, California

Zander Westbrook Design worked with Fehr & Peers to identify trail alignment opportunities that would close the existing gap in the Bay Trail near San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and connect to the regional trail network in Millbrae and San Bruno. The team supported existing conditions analysis, the technical advisory team, and the design of off-street trail concepts.

The SFO Bay Trail Gap Closure Study aims to close the nearly 4-mile gap to increase community connectivity, safety, and usability, as well as reduce potential environmental impacts. The gap closure is part of the vision for the San Francisco Bay Trail as a continuous 500-mile trail around San Francisco and San Pablo Bays that passes through 47 cities and all nine Bay Area counties.
