Happy 2026 from ZWD!

We’ve loved learning, growing, and puzzling through public access projects with you all! Cheers to more creativity and collaboration in the new year!

2025 Project Highlights

In 2025, we focused on regional and community trail connections and inclusive access to beautiful California landscapes. From filling in small (but critical!) trail gaps in Santa Clara County, to improving coastal access from Sonoma to Monterey County, these projects support our mission to design outdoor access for connection, inclusion, and stewardship.

Growing Our Team

composite of three photos: a smiling woman with long brown hair wearing glasses; selfie of six people smiling on a sunny day; selfie of four people smiling holding ice cream cones.

This year, we hosted our first interns: Jyotika from UC Berkeley and Ruby from Carleton! They each brought their fresh perspective and energy to our office and were a great support on our projects. We also welcomed Anaolga as our first full-time "Jill-of-all-trades" to keep everything running smoothly at the office.

Coming up in 2026

This year, we will be kicking off a California Coastal Trail project in Pacifica and moving a handful of other coastal access projects toward completion. We are also scheduled to break ground on the construction of a trailhead to the redwoods.

Wishing you all many wonderful wildlife and wildflower sightings this year!
